Terminal expansion · Leeds Bradford Airport
From terminal requirements to operational services.
I authored the IT infrastructure requirements for the terminal extension and led Phase 1 technical delivery through implementation, testing and handover, working across construction, specialist suppliers and airport operations.
Turn operational needs into buildable requirements
I translated needs for passenger information, communications and operational systems into infrastructure requirements, coordinated location schedules, drawings and equipment specifications for suppliers and the construction team.
I reconciled device and display locations with data points, checked switch-port capacity and power-over-Ethernet (PoE) requirements, and issued revised packs as the design changed. An endpoint change could affect cabling, switch capacity and another contractor’s installation work.

Resolve the physical constraints
My requirements covered communications cabinets and equipment rooms, power and cooling, cable containment, structured cabling, fibre, switching and wireless. I planned for installation, maintenance access and future expansion.
During live delivery, I worked directly with mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineers to develop infrastructure solutions that made efficient use of the available space while meeting resilience requirements.
Connect the design to implementation
I combined hands-on infrastructure work with coordination of suppliers, contractors and airport stakeholders. My patching plan guided installation, while I tracked cabinet power, switch readiness and fibre connectivity.
Specialist suppliers contributed base equipment configuration and system commissioning. I coordinated their work, checked readiness and resolved discrepancies between the requirements and the installation.
Check the installation against the agreed scope
I checked supplier deliverables against the agreed scope and reviewed configuration records, device schedules and commissioning information against the installed equipment before supporting acceptance.
Carry delivery knowledge into operational support
I authored the Phase 1 support handover, recording workstream status, assets, configuration, management information, maintenance needs and troubleshooting guidance. It distinguished completed installations from outstanding dependencies.
I trained colleagues to support unfamiliar systems. Alongside the new infrastructure, I expanded the team’s knowledge base with clear system records and practical support guidance.
The result
From specification to operational services.
The Phase 1 infrastructure for the terminal extension was implemented, tested and handed over to operational support.
My Phase 2 work continues through revised requirements, location schedules, drawing coordination and supplier queries for the wider refurbishment.
